I’ve been to Killarney Provincial Park a number of times, and I’ll keep going back, because it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Furthermore, it has a huge variety of paddling and outdoor adventures to choose from. Killarney has world-class sea kayak touring along Georgian Bay. Killarney also has world-class canoe tripping within the lakes of the Provincial Park. For non-paddlers, the backpacking within the park is also second to none.
On this particular trip, I was excited to be explore a new part of the Georgian Bay coastline, as well as a new part of Killarney Provincial Park. The mission was to kayak about 8km down Baie Fine – a freshwater fjord that requires a 30-kilometer power boat ride to reach. At the end of the bay, there is a hike up to a perched lake called Topaz Lake, which is said to have some of the clearest waters that you’ll find anywhere.
To say that the trip lived up to my expectations would be a gross understatement. Once again, Killarney proved itself to be one of the most magical wilderness destinations in the world.
