Backpacking in Utah: A Bit About this Hiking Region
Moab is a small desert city in eastern Utah. It boasts of winding canyons, vibrant red mesa formations, and the stunning granite peaks of the La Sal range. Moab is only a 6 hour drive from where I live in Colorado so when the opportunity for us to go backpacking together my coworker and I decided to make the trip! This wasn't my first time backpacking in Utah, but its one of my favorite hikes!
On The Trail – Utah…
Our plan was to use our hiking apps to find some good day hiking routes while tent camping near the Colorado River which run right outside of town. We quickly decided on an easy 6 mile round trip hike to Morning Glory Arch for day one. This hike is very family friendly with very little elevation gain and change while still showing off massive mesa formations.
Recommendation: GO hiking in Utah!
I highly recommend it for its beauty throughout the hike and not to mention the grander of the arch itself. On day 2 we decided to plan a more adventurous and technical hike through the Behind the Wilderness Area which was incredible and might be a little too much to explain in this blog post.
