Torqeedo Trolling for Fishing

Today we're going to share a quick tip that'll help you be more efficient when you're trolling new water. It'll help you get dialed in by finding the fish and figuring out patterns. My main challenge on the lake we ended up on was to find the right trolling speed for small mouth.

So now I'm going to turn it over to Jeff little from the The Little Stuff YouTube channel.

Jeff is going to go through his setup and show you how he utilizes his Torqeedo to troll, especially when he's fishing new water.

Jeff Helps us Find the Right Trolling Speed for Fishing

Every Torqeedo system has a GPS unit. In this case, the Ultralight's GPS unit is in the battery. It tells you your speed over land, but its real purpose is calculating how much range you have left.

For instance, if you need to go 8.4 miles and you typically mash it to cover a lot of water quickly, you know you'll have plenty of juice if it says you have 14.6 miles of range remaining.

Finding the Right Trolling Speed

So in this example, we're going 2.2 miles per hour, we have 63 miles of range remaining, and the battery is 94 percent charged.

This is actually faster than I want to go for trolling. So I'll back this down to about seven watts. This will stabilize my speed somewhere around the 1.3 mile per hour range. I've found that this is a good trolling speed for smallies in this particular lake. After a few minutes at this speed, Jameson hooked up.

Once you have the right trolling speed for fishing, you tend to hook up.

Hopefully this tip will give you a better overall experience and help you catch more fish. I think it'll be particularly useful when you're fishing new water and want to do some trolling.
